Fly to Copenhagen with Skyways
Experience “dejlig” food, exciting galleries, trendy shops and much more. It's hard not to like Copenhagen. The difficulty lies in choosing what to do.
Here's a pleasant abundance of almost everything, not least of hospitality. A good start to your visit would be to take a leisurely stroll along Strøget, Europe's longest shopping street! It starts at Kongens Nytorv and goes right down to the Town Hall Square. And when the hunger pangs start don’t miss the opportunity to sample real smørrebrød perhaps even washed down with a "lille en" (schnapps). And enjoying a classic red Danish sausage goes without saying. Copenhagen houses a plethora of museums and of course a visit to either of the city's two amusement parks is de rigueur.
Founded 160 years ago, the Tivoli Gardens are Denmark's most popular tourist attraction welcoming over 4 million visitors per year. It is located right inside the town and you can, for example, try Denmark's newest, biggest and fastest roller coaster. The other amusement park is called Bakken and is said to be the world's oldest amusement park. With its carousels, balloons and candy booths Bakken really appeals to the child in us; no wonder it’s Denmark's second largest tourist attraction.
While we are on the subject of popular destinations we cannot avoid mentioning the Copenhagen Zoo. Surrounded by royal gardens this green oasis is currently home to over 3300 animals and some exciting attractions. For example, there is a new facility where you can follow seals under water.
Should you feel the need to rest your legs, you should definitely stop in Nyhavn and enjoy watching the crowds of people travelling in and out of town. Another way to see the city without having to walk is to take a canal boat trip departing from the Chronometer Staircase at the Holmen Church. Yes, in Copenhagen there is a lot to see and do.
