Fly Halmstad

Fly Halmstad

Fly to Halmstad with Skyways. Here you will find Tylösand, one of Sweden's most famous seaside resorts, also famous for its 7 km long sandy beach and for its golf course.

What would have happened if Sweden and Denmark had not reached agreement? Horrible thought. Then we Swedes would never have been able to call the fine sand dunes of Tylösand our own. For many, many years Halmstad belonged to Denmark. In 1307 Halmstad was granted town privileges. The three hearts in the city arms was a gift to the residents of Halmstad from the Danish royal family in the 1500s because they had defended themselves well against the Swedes! Only in 1645 did Halmstad become Swedish.

Many people refer to Halmstad as the golfing capital of Sweden. Here you will find no fewer than eleven courses. Best known is the Halmstad Golf Club, or Tylösand as it is known in the vernacular. It has repeatedly been voted as one of Sweden's best golf courses and the Solheim Cup was hosted here in September 2007.

If you prefer cycling, you may be interested to know that Halmstad was named the bicycle city of 2004. Pick and choose from among 200 kilometres of cycle paths.

After the bike ride you can relax and enjoy something refreshing whilst watching the crowds at the Great Square - because that is where you should head if you wish to experience the livelier pace of town life.
