Fly to Kristianstad with Skyways
Kristianstad is close to Österlen – “The Provence of Sweden” and all the diverse experiences and beautiful nature that the area has to offer!
It is just 15 minutes to Åhus from the airport. You’ll need 30 minutes to Brösarp and a few minutes more down to Kivik and Simrishamn. Österlen is a perfect place to spend a few days holiday. The golf season starts early and lasts well into the autumn. There are many good golf courses in and around Kristianstad: Degeberga Widtsköfle GC, Araslövs GC, Skepparlövs GC and Kristianstad Golf Club to name but a few. The latter is one of the top ten courses.
The coastline south of Åhus is called Ålakusten "coast of eels". Along the miles of sandy beach, you can see rows of eel huts. Some 30 of these booths (between Rinkaby and the Ravlunda firing range) are still based on traditional eel fisheries. Fishing is done during late summer and autumn and if you get the opportunity, grab the chance to participate in an eel feast.
Food is something Kristianstad residents are especially good at and the municipality has chosen to market this under the motto “Spirit of Food”. In fact, the municipality is Sweden's centre for food and drink. It is home to the most companies in the country within and connected to the food industry.
