Luleå has much to offer the visitor, from wild nature to wild nightlife.

The natural world is always close in Luleå, with wonderful outdoor recreation facilities and a beautiful and easily accessible archipelago. You can also find two beautiful river valleys here: the Lule Valley and the Råne Valley. The countryside is lying in wait for you, just outside the door.

With exciting shops and large, well-filled shopping centres central Luleå is a great shopping venue. Storgatan and the surrounding streets are the places for shopping. This area also comprises many hotels, restaurants and nightclubs, and provides opportunities for a broad and exciting range of cultural activities.

Many different types of events are hosted in Luleå, both in summer and winter, and popular sporting events include ice hockey and basketball.

Luleå also has Gammelstad Church Town, which is on the UNESCO list of world heritage sites. It was here that Gustav II Adolf (1594-1632) – of Thirty Years’ War fame - founded Luleå in 1621.
