Bon appétit!

If you enjoy food and drink, then Lyon is the place for you. Here you will find French gourmet restaurants and exclusive bars.

Lyon lies in the interesting Rhône Alp region and offers many attractions – not least of which are the wine districts: Beaujolais and Côtes du Rhônes, Bresse, Valence, Clermont-Ferrand, and many others.

Lyon is also perfectly situated for an active holiday with many excellent golf courses in the vicinity, and convenient skiing opportunities in the nearby Alps. Lyon is the second largest city in France and is slightly larger than Stockholm. The rivers Rhône and Saône converge here flowing under a total of 28 bridges, and you are surrounded by water wherever you are. Like Visby and Tallin, Lyon has a long history as a trading centre, and its exciting history has led UNESCO to designate parts of the city as being worthy of protection.

Central Lyon principally consists of Le Presquile, between the rivers. Here you can go shopping along the Rue de la Republique, relax in the Place Bellecour, or visit the opera, theatre, restaurants, pubs and bars. In other words, the city offers a fine mixture of food, leisure, shopping and culture. The old town, Vieux Lyon, lies on the opposite side of the river Saône, a wonderful area full of restaurants and cafés. Lyon is at its most beautiful in the evenings, lit by its justly famous illumination – not to be missed!
