What confirms that Sundsvall is a real market town is that the IKANO-house, with IKEA in the lead, is by far the biggest attraction in the area. Each year 4.5 million people make pilgrimages to this place (yes you read right 4.5 million). But Sundsvall offers more shopping than that. Inside the stone city you will find a rich variety of shops in the turn of the century environment. Do you want to rest your legs between all of their actions, just to settle down in one of the many cozy cafes located in the city.

Sweden's first international casino was opened in Sundsvall. The old station building has been converted into a gaming and entertainment venue with 15 gaming tables, 125 slot machines and (of course) good food and drink. You'll find this temple of pleasure at Casino Park 1 (where else?).

If you like culture you should steer towards Kulturmagasinet. It is one of the city's largest venues (last year was 550 000 visitors) with exhibitions, lectures, theater, concerts and more. It can be compared to a large boiling pot of culture.

If you come in early July the whole town is boiling. Then the Sundsvall street party takes place. With lots of famous artists and one long celebration throughout the city.
